Dr. Hey Woong Park

Dr. Hey Woong Park is the Head of Battery Development, bringing over 24 years of hands on experience in lithium-ion battery research, development, and commercialization for automotive and advanced electronics applications. Throughout his career, Dr. Park has focused on translating fundamental materials science into reliable, high-volume battery products, with a strong emphasis on real-world performance and manufacturability.

Prior to joining Volt Carbon Technologies, Dr. Park held senior engineering and technical leadership roles at LG Energy Solution (formerly LG Chem), where he worked directly on lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles. His responsibilities spanned cell design, materials selection, performance validation, and manufacturing scale-up, contributing to meaningful improvements in energy density, safety, and long-term durability across commercial battery platforms.

Dr. Park leads Volt Carbon’s Solid UltraBattery Division, developing next-generation energy storage systems with particular emphasis on achieving high energy density and dependable performance in extreme cold conditions. His work targets critical operational challenges in aerospace, defence, and electric mobility, where conventional batteries often fail to perform consistently. Dr. Park holds multiple battery related patents covering cell architecture, materials integration, and manufacturing methods. In addition, he is an accomplished author of technical publications in electrochemical energy storage and is widely recognized for his rigorous, data-driven approach and commitment to building battery technologies that perform reliably beyond the laboratory.
